Everyone is welcome to join in the 2026 Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) – the largest birding event in the world! The dates for this year’s GBBC are 13 -16 Feb 2026.
Last year over 10,000 nature enthusiasts explored more than 24,000 locations across India, recording 1,086 bird species—nearly 80% of all bird species found in the country.
GBBC is open to everyone—no prior birding experience needed. Individuals, families, campuses, and organisations can all take part, whether from their neighbourhoods, parks, wetlands, or campuses.

There is also a dedicated Campus Bird Count that runs alongside the GBBC, perfect for school, college, institutional or corporate campuses.
