On 18–19 June 2026, the Bioregional Centre of Excellence (CoE) team participated in a Natural Farming Workshop and Awareness Campaign in Mau District, Uttar Pradesh, at the invitation of the District Magistrate, Mr. Anand Vardhan. The event brought together farmers, government officials, community resource persons (CRPs), and practitioners to promote sustainable and chemical-free farming practices.
Representing Jagriti, Anand Singh and Manoj Tiwari attended the programme along with experienced natural farming farmers and CRPs who shared practical insights from their field experience.
The workshop served as a platform for farmers to learn about the principles and benefits of natural farming. Discussions focused on reducing input costs, improving soil health, increasing farm resilience, and strengthening livelihoods through sustainable agricultural practices. CRPs and farmer practitioners shared their experiences of implementing natural farming methods at the village level. Their stories highlighted the positive changes observed in crop health, soil fertility, and community participation.
Building Awareness Through Community Outreach
Alongside the workshop, awareness activities were conducted to encourage wider adoption of natural farming practices. Farmers engaged in discussions, asked questions, and interacted directly with practitioners who demonstrated how natural farming techniques can be implemented using locally available resources. The campaign helped create greater awareness of sustainable agriculture while strengthening the connection between farming communities, local administration, and development organizations.
Strengthening Collaboration for Natural Farming
The participation of district officials and community representatives reflected a shared commitment to promoting environmentally sustainable and economically viable farming practices. Such collaborations play an important role in accelerating the adoption of natural farming and supporting farmers during the transition process. The Bioregional COE remains committed to supporting farmers through capacity-building initiatives, field demonstrations, and community engagement efforts. The Mau workshop reinforced the importance of collective action in creating resilient agricultural systems and advancing sustainable rural development.
