ABOUT THE POSITION

We seek an economist or quantitative social scientist investigating how individual and collective behavior affects biodiversity outcomes and vice versa. The candidate should have strong quantitative skills in one or more of the following areas: econometrics, causal data analysis, integration and analysis of large datasets, social and behavioral field experiments, spatial statistics, and other commensurate approaches. We welcome applications from candidates in economics, environmental social science, geography, public policy, and related interdisciplinary fields. Candidates will work with a team of researchers and conservationists at CWSwhen required. The position will be based at CWS’ Bangalore office, with occasional travel to field sites.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. PhD in economics, environmental social science, geography, public policy, and related interdisciplinary fields.

  2. Demonstrated experience in engaging in research programs focused on environmental and conservation issues and managing research teams…

  3. Proven track record in fundraising.

  4. Proven publication record in known peer-reviewed scientific journals.

  5. Ability to teach courses in environmental and ecological economics.

  6. Fluent spoken and written proficiency in English.

Job Description - Manager Finance

Designation: Manager - Finance

Reports to: Executive Director

Start Date: June 2021

Location: Bangalore

About the Job

This position involves managing all finance and accounting requirements for the Centre for Wildlife Studies. This includes day to day accounting and auditing, budgeting, Utilization certificates, MIS preparation, Statutory Compliance & Legal and Fund management. Additionally, the position may require travel as per business needs. The candidate will be working closely with the senior management, program managers and the field staff.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain & Review on Day-to-Day basis / Tally or Other Software Environment

  2. Verifying and processing expenses and payments.

  3. Attending Statutory & Internal Audits, providing necessary information, clarifications, liaison with auditors. 4. Ensure effective project accounting, job cost reporting and timely analysis of financial projections on every active project as required by the management.

  4. Regular management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization including organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet, reports to funding agencies, development and monitoring of organizational and contract/grant budgets.

  5. Preparation of Financial MIS, different formats for different stakeholders

  6. Ensure Liquidity / Cash & Fund Flows

  7. Investment & Fund Management

  8. Preparation, Execution, Reporting of Budgets - Budget vs Actuals, Financial vs Physical, Physical vs Impact. 10. Provide the company’s management with an operating budget.

  9. Ensuring the FCRA and other legal compliances being followed.

  10. Ensure all periodic filings of the Returns, Income Tax, TDS, EPF, PS & FCRA.

  11. Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable - Maintaining and Follow-up.

  12. Cost Analysis Support, and compliance with all contractual and programmatic requirements.

  13. Ensure that all expenditure of funds complies with organizational guidelines on fraud avoidance, misuse of organization funds

Requirements

  1. At least 3 years of experience in managing finance for a Development Sector Organization.

  2. Work experience in National Level organisation with Annual Operating budgets upwards of 10-15 crores per annum 3. Education: CA - Inter or MBA Finance.

  3. Working knowledge of Tally – preferably ERP 9.00 version.

  4. Excellent analytical thinking and communication skills.

  1. Proficiency in use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  2. Results-driven and self-motivated with the ability to independently work and inspire the pursuit of excellence.

Job Description - HR & Admin Assistant Manager

About the Job:

Centre for Wildlife Studies is recruiting manager for HR & Admin responsibilities. This position involves managing all HR responsibilities including recruitment, HR Policies, staff engagements, processing employee data and admin responsibilities such as assisting teams with any external help e.g. dealing and negotiating with vendors, managing office supplies and managing housekeeping staff. The person should be extremely organised and be familiar with HR and Admin functions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintaining physical and digital personnel records such as employment contracts.

  2. Update internal databases with new hire information.

  3. Develop training and onboarding material.

  4. Create and distribute guidelines and FAQ documents about company policies.

  5. Respond to employees’ questions about benefits (for example, the number of vacation days they are eligible for). 6. Gather payroll data like bank accounts and working days.

  6. Publish and remove job ads. Schedule job interviews and contact candidates as needed.

  7. Prepare reports and presentations on HR-related metrics like the total number of hires by programs.

  8. Dealing and negotiating with vendors for different requirements of the Organization.

  9. Ensuring office supplies and stationery are in stock and managing the housekeeping staff.

Requirements:

  1. Excellent analytical thinking and communication skills.

  2. Minimum 3 years of work experience in Managing HR and Admin Functions.

  3. MBA -HR or equivalent educational qualification.

  4. Proficiency in use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GoogleDrive, Slack and Asana.

  6. Should know driving and must have a two-wheeler along with a valid driving licence.
