Speaker Profile: Dr. Amit Hegde
Batrachologist | Senior Researcher
Dr. Amit Hegde is a passionate field biologist, educator, and storyteller whose life revolves around frogs and forests. With over thirteen years of experience in wildlife research and conservation, he has journeyed through the Western Ghats, coastlines, islands, and mountains—decoding frog calls, mapping their habitats, and uncovering how life thrives across wild and fragile landscapes.
Born in a small village deep in the Central Western Ghats, Dr. Hegde’s early bond with nature shaped his path. He holds a PhD in Zoology with a specialization in frog behavior, bioacoustics, and biogeography.
Throughout his career, he has worked as a naturalist, researcher, educator, and mentor, across India’s diverse ecosystems—from the Deccan Plateau to remote island forests. What sets him apart is his creative approach to science, blending field biology with storytelling to turn complex ecological ideas into memorable experiences. His work has appeared in popular science publications and international journals. His mission is to spark curiosity, foster connection with nature, and inspire the next generation of wildlife champions.
