The Just Transitions framework talks about the livelihood impact of transitioning away from fossil fuels. Over 21.5 million workers shall be impacted in in fossil fuels and fossil fuel-dependent industries.
- The skills required for the new industries vs fossil based are quite different
- The states which currently have most of the fossil fuel based industries are Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh and the states which will have most of renewable energy be Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, AP and MH, hence there is a further challenge of socio economic impact from one set of states to another.
