The Ecological Restoration Alliance invites you to their next webinar A Systems Thinking View of Ecological Restoration – where Kabir Sharma will paint the big picture of ecological restoration in India and outline the complexity of factors that influence it.

We hope to see you there. You can register for the webinar using this link, or by scanning the QR code on the poster below.

Date: October 7, 2025
Time: 4 pm onwards
Venue: Zoom Meeting

About the Webinar:

What drives certain trends that are currently emerging around ecological restoration in India? Can these be attributed to a singular cause? Or are they the net effect of several ecological as well as socio-economic-political forces that also interact with each other?

Why have unscientific quick fix and non-inclusive approaches to restoration become so popular? How do opposing goals and factors beyond individual and organisational control influence how we approach restoration?

How do we comprehend the big picture even as we work in our specialised domains within it?

Earlier this year, DESTA and the Ecological Restoration Alliance undertook a participatory systems thinking exercise to better understand these forces. This exercise happened over two workshops involving ERA Desks and the Steering Committee.

This talk will present what emerged as a shared understanding of ecological restoration in India through the exercise. Its usefulness could extend beyond the work of the ERA desks to the larger member community, as it can enable individuals or organisations to understand where their work is positioned, what areas require more attention and how they are contributing to the larger restoration narrative.
