Indian wildlife has just had its demonetization moment. A recent letter in Nature Ecology & Evolution in favour of cheetah reintroduction emphasizes how the exercise was always an experiment.

“In our view, the available data and arguments that we have laid out above sufficiently support the experimental reintroduction of cheetahs into India, and we look forward to assessing the outcome of the project over time.”
