Sustainable Futures Collaborative’s Newsletter and Annual Report

Hello,

In this quarter’s newsletter, we highlight the need to address air pollution beyond regions and seasons. A recent study led by Bhargav Krishna, Fellow at SFC, has found that air pollution levels below current Indian standards contribute to increased daily mortality rates and that even cities typically not associated with high air pollution levels, such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Chennai, had significant mortality impacts. Systemic reforms that centre on public health and adopt a regional coordinated approach are essential.

We have also been writing on the need for a new climate law for India to move toward a low-carbon, climate-resilient future while advancing social justice, and how this law can be operationalised.

We are also thrilled to share our very first Annual Report. It has been a year since we were established with the goal of charting India’s progress toward a sustainable, equitable, and resilient economy and society. This report captures the work we’ve done and our journey so far.

We hope you enjoy reading it and we look forward to your feedback. SFC Quarterly Update | Addressing Air Pollution Beyond Borders and Seasons; Operationalising a New Climate Right for India & More
