Slam Out Loud: Academic Year begins!

Greetings from Slam Out Loud!!

We’re here to share updates from the beginning of our academic year! In June 2025, we wrapped up one of the most energizing parts of our year - the Jijivisha Fellowship Induction , our 8-day residential training that prepares our 2025–26 Fellows to be classroom-ready. This is our third full time fellows’ cohort! Watching this new cohort immerse themselves in socio-emotional learning (SEL) - not just as a concept, but as a lived, teachable practice - was deeply inspiring.

Selected among 670 applicants through a rigorous process, this year’s cohort brings together 21 powerful stories of transformation :

  • Abbas, one of our first students at Slam Out Loud, returns as a Fellow - a brilliant spoken word poet (hear his [original poetry] from 5 years ago!) ready to lead classrooms.
  • Tara, a tech professional with 10 years at Accenture, is now a trained dance movement therapist, supporting children in expressing themselves.
  • Susanskrita, an archaeologist turned storyteller, brings a love for heritage and voice to young learners.

📍Meet our Fellows in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore, and follow along for more.

Meanwhile, Project Aawaaz in Punjab took the stage - literally. Earlier in June, 1,044 government schools hosted Showcase events where 37,000 children presented over 5,700 original performances, co-created with their teachers. From theatre on migration to climate change posters and bhangra about belonging, children transformed everyday school spaces into stages for expression and courage.

Stay tuned, we have some truly exciting updates coming soon!!!
Warmly,
Slam Out Loud Team.
