Second Quarter Update of The Timbaktu Collective
Reporting Period: January 2026 - March 2026
Output 1: Consolidation and Dissemination of Knowledge
This period from Jan to March 2026 focused on the following activities with the support of the Rainmatter Foundation. Music scoring was completed for the 35-year Timbaktu Collective animation film, which is expected to be ready for release by the end of 2026. Business viability assessments of enterprises run by cooperatives promoted by the Timbaktu Collective were advanced, along with improvements to the demonstration plot for farmer awareness, learning, and knowledge sharing with visitors. Students, development professionals, and NGO representatives also visited Timbaktu, gaining insights into cooperatives, women’s leadership, livelihoods, disability inclusion, agroecology, ecological conservation, and water management. The Timbaktu Collective’s experience in sustainable agriculture and farmer-led cooperatives was shared through national and international networks, including ASHA–Kisan Swaraj and IFOAM. The collective’s representatives regularly interact with government officials at local level networking for cooperatives. Peer learning and networking were strengthened through visits to MITTI Café and Composite Regional Centre for persons with Disabilities services, Nellore and participation in a national Inclusion Conference, Bengaluru.
Here are a few glimpses capturing the above.
