We are replacing about 125 KVA of total of 1000 KVA with solar (Sunday grids are doing it). We are in a remote place, we don’t have any other options. The next best option is running a dedicated express line from about 11 KMS and enormous costs.
I have been visiting sites where solar in rural areas are installed and wanted to understand maintenance costs. There are a host of issues with the panels and maintenance is required on a regular basis, of 13 installations (min of 100 KVA+ capacity) I visited, 11 were defunct and factory owners were given up on it.
Surprisingly, I found this article in the Washington Post. If it is true, we are sinking a lot of money into solar in rural areas and dumping panels in rural areas.
