Output 4: Promotion of Ethical, Sustainable, and Viable Business Enterprises
During the quarter, several key machines; including a flour machine, groundnut grader, solar inverter, and millet dehuller were procured and partially installed for the Dharani Organic Farmers’ Cooperative, promoted by the Collective. These investments are expected to improve production efficiency, reduce operational costs, and support low-maintenance processing. In response to changing agricultural practices and rising labour and harvesting costs, farmers also identified the need for millet harvesting machinery. Different equipment options, including blade types and operational features, were assessed for their suitability to local farming conditions, and procurement will be taken forward in the coming months.
Bio-inputs prepared at the Bio-Resource Centre were effectively utilised by farmers for multiple agricultural purposes, promoting sustainable farming practices. A resource person from Malka Organisation visited the weaving unit to assess ongoing processes and shared guidance on improved weaving techniques, contributing to the continued strengthening of the weavers’ skills and production techniques.
