Net-Zero Fellowship

The Net Zero fellowship is an exclusive programme for 100 emerging political and public leaders in India. The programme will facilitate a deeper understanding of India’s position and plans for tackling climate change. This invite-only fellowship will introduce participants to the issues and pathways to a low-carbon or Net Zero economy. The fellowship will cover climate change basics, its impact and ways to address it. It will also move deeper into issues that affect polity and how leaders can engage in different aspects of the Net Zero transition. This would include getting familiarised with issues like climate justice, and acknowledging the idea that climate change is as much about ethics and society, as it is about physical and environmental concerns. The program will then move to enabling growth for the country, but also making sure the marginalised are protected through the transitions that such growth will obviously bring. The course will end with a discussion amongst participants about issues that affect India specifically and where the biggest impact for opportunities lies for them in their careers and their work, as well as for India as a whole.

Fields of View has been co-facilitating a series of 4 workshops, 120 minutes each, for the Net-Zero Fellowship, organised by the School of Policy and Governance. Each of these workshops is happening in the 4 different regional groups of the Net-Zero Fellows and most of them have been completed. Fields of View is specifically conducting “The City Game” with the Fellows of Net-zero fellowship, which is a sustainable city-building simulation, to enable the Fellows to do participative urban policy planning towards a Net-Zero future.

In early August, Karthik led Fields of View’s session at IIM Lucknow. The workshop gathered emerging political and public leaders from diverse backgrounds with the aim of exploring strategies for achieving a Net Zero economy and addressing climate change challenges. Through meaningful workshop sessions, participants actively engaged in brainstorming innovative solutions for a greener future. Karthik facilitated an engaging City Game, encouraging collaboration to build sustainable cities. The overarching intent of the workshop was to empower leaders with climate literacy and promote collective efforts towards sustainability.
