Livelihood-Focused Trainings - June 2025

Organic Farming Training – June 2025

Shivganga conducted a series of Organic Farming Trainings to promote sustainable, chemical-free agriculture and strengthen farmers’ understanding of soil health and ecological practices. The trainings were held on 08 June 2025 (70 participants), 09 June 2025 (62 participants), and 10 June 2025 (68 participants).

During the sessions, participants learned about natural farming methods, composting, soil regeneration, and cost-effective inputs. Discussions focused on reducing dependency on external chemical inputs while improving productivity. The training encouraged farmers to adopt practices that protect land, water, and long-term livelihoods, while lowering input costs and increasing resilience.

Basic Bamboo Training Camps – June 2025

Shivganga organised two Basic Bamboo Training Camps to promote skill-based livelihood generation using locally available resources.

  • 08–11 June 2025 | 80 participants
  • 22–25 June 2025 | 85 participants

The camps enabled participants to reflect on local livelihood challenges and explore practical, community-based solutions through guided discussions and group activities. The training introduced bamboo as a sustainable livelihood resource, covering different types of bamboo, their properties, and potential applications.

Participants received hands-on exposure to basic bamboo handicraft techniques, including an introduction to tools, material handling, and design possibilities. The programme helped participants recognise bamboo-based skills as viable income opportunities rooted in local ecology, traditional knowledge, and self-reliance.

Animal Husbandry Training – June 2025

  • 15 June 2025 | 95 participants

Shivganga conducted the Animal Husbandry Training to strengthen livelihood opportunities through improved livestock management. Participants discussed existing challenges and received training on the care and management of goats, cows, poultry, and dairy animals. Sessions covered basic animal health, nutrition, hygiene, and preventive practices, aimed at reducing disease-related losses and improving productivity.

A key highlight was the sharing of the success story of Kalyan Singad, a Chhagola dairy farmer, who demonstrated how systematic animal care and informed decision-making can lead to sustainable income generation. The training encouraged participants to view animal husbandry as a reliable, knowledge-based livelihood option supported by planning and collective learning.
