The second edition of the State of India’s Birds (SoIB) report will be launched on 25 August 2023 at the India International Centre in Delhi.
SoIB 2023 is based on 30+ million observations of over 20,000 birdwatchers and researchers, and has been put together by a consortium of 13 partner organisations. It updates and builds upon the first SoIB report, which was published in 2020.
SoIB 2023 assesses 942 Indian bird species for distributional range and trend in abundance, and combines these to place species into High, Moderate and Low categories of conservation priority. It also carries case studies of systematic monitoring efforts, as well as reviews of key threats to birds.
We welcome you to join us in person or online (livestreamed on YouTube) for the launch of the report. There will be a panel discussion at 4PM, followed by the formal launch at 6PM.
