ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP

As we witness the world grappling with various crises, from climate change to social unrest, it becomes evident that our disconnect from Nature plays a significant role in the current state of affairs. We believe that every child deserves the chance to learn more about Nature, understand what is happening to our planet Earth, and learn how they can take action today to change the future.

The Teach for Nature Fellowship aims to address this by providing children with essential opportunities:

  • Connect with Nature and understand its principles
  • Engage in climate action and sustainable living.
  • Prepare for careers aligned with sustainable practices.

WHO CAN BE A TEACH FOR NATURE FELLOW?

You’ll love this fellowship if you are:

  • An adventurer at heart seeking meaningful impact.
  • Passionate about environmental education and enjoy working with children.
  • A graduate with strong communication skills in English and preferably another Indian language.
  • Interested in engaging schools and networking with resources for support.
  • Keen learner who values self-initiated work.

Please Note: The age limit is flexible, but those between 20 and 35 years of age will be preferred.

DURATION OF THE FELLOWSHIP
20th May ‘24 – 20th April ‘25

Orientation Programme: 20th May – 31st July ‘24

School Engagement: 1st Aug ‘24 to 20th April ‘25

  1. A 10-week residential programme from May 20th till 31st July at Bhoomi Campus, Bengaluru. This is compulsory.
  2. An 8-month work placement in select schools from August 1st, 2024 to March 31st, 2025. Receive a stipend of Rs.30,000/- (CTC) and ongoing support.
  3. Weekly mentoring through online or in-person meetings to enhance your skills and learning experience.

Beyond the Fellowship, a continued journey a Nature educator in subsequent years.
DETAILS & STRUCTURE OF THE ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
The TFN Fellows will be given a kit that includes the detailed syllabus, sample lesson plans, a book and reading material and links to videos, etc.
The syllabus will include: Study of Nature in our surroundings, Sustainable Food and Health, Water and Energy, Chemicals and Cleaning Products, Climate Change and carbon footprint calculator, Transport and Lifestyle, Craft activities, Thinking Processes, etc.,
The programme includes

  • Learning about the 25 session Climate Action and Nature (CAN) syllabus for classes 6/7.
  • Understanding methods of learning, teaching and facilitation.
  • Understanding the personal transformation needed to be a Nature Educator.
  • Learning about the importance of Field Trips, Learning Partnerships and Community Interaction.
  • Learning to use books, magazines and videos effectively.

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Submit your application (Phase 2 - Last date : April 24th)
  2. Prepare for a telephonic or in-person interview.
  3. Selected candidates will undergo a 10-week intensive training funded by Bhoomi Network after selection.
  4. Get placed in a school with resource materials and ongoing mentorship.
  5. Receive a stipend/salary and a certificate upon completion.
