Introducing the Air Quality Canvas

After extensive convenings with expert stakeholders, we’ve developed the Air Canvas– a strategic exercise to map the air quality (AQ) data value chain, from data creation to citizen engagement.

It covers four types of AQ data:

  • Real-time
  • Historical
  • Forecasting
  • Activity

Through this canvas, we explore key questions:

  • Who is working across the value chain, and how?
  • Where are actions concentrated along the chain?
  • In what formats is AQ data available, and how interoperable is it?
  • What are the core use-cases of interventions?

We would like to give a special note of thanks to Sunil Dahiya (EnviroCatalysts) for his guidance in shaping this exercise.

What’s inside the Canvas document:

  1. Framing Questions – Flowchart mapping the core questions guiding our understanding of the upstream AQ landscape

  2. The AQ Canvas – Snapshot of key stakeholders, geographic presence, formats, availability, and use-cases of AQ data across the value chain

  3. Stakeholder Directory – Deep dive into each actor listed in the canvas, detailing their roles and contributions

How you can help:
The document is in ‘comment-only’ mode to allow collaborative feedback. We are looking for:

  • Tab 1: Does the framing/questions flow make sense? Any suggestions to improve structure?

  • Tab 2: Check if your organization is correctly placed in the value chain, references are accurate, and if anything is missing or misrepresented. Please add your organization in case its missing.

  • Tab 3: Verify if your organization’s work is accurately described and complete.

Your insights will help us validate and strengthen the AQ ecosystem mapping to make this into a critical information resource for the sector.
