India Research Corps

We are excited to launch India Research Corps (IRC), a new initiative by WELL Labs, to bridge the gap between research and real-world impact around the water sector. Across India, governments and civil society organisations are making critical decisions about water, land, and livelihoods, often without the credible, context-specific evidence they need. At the same time, important academic research rarely finds a clear pathway to the communities it aims to serve.

As a knowledge broker, IRC connects pressing research questions from government agencies and civil society organisations with skilled Master’s students and fresh postgraduates, called India Research Scholars, who are trained and mentored to answer these questions with rigour and practical relevance.

What makes IRC different?
• Research questions are curated and sharpened into SMART frameworks. Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Relevant, and Time bound
• Scholars receive structured induction, mentorship, and technical oversight
• Research outputs focus on actionable insights that help decision makers identify clear next steps

IRC has two long term goals. First, to close critical evidence gaps in the water sector. Second, to help build the next generation of action researchers in India.

We invite clients, scholars, and mentors to help build this platform together. So, if you are a:
• Government agency or CSO with unanswered questions
• Master’s student or fresh postgraduate who wants to work on real-world challenges
• Academic or practitioner interested in mentoring the next generation of researchers
