Greetings from Bird Count India!
We’re excited to announce that the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC)—the world’s largest bird counting event—is just around the corner! From February 14 to 17, 2025, birdwatchers across the globe will document their sightings and contribute valuable data to science through the eBird platform.
Last year, over 5,000 birdwatchers in India reported more than 1,000 species during this 4-day event.
GBBC is a celebration of birds, with hundreds of bird walks conducted all over the country to introduce new people to the joy of birding. You can register your own event or find one to take part in.
Alongside GBBC, campuses across India participate in the Campus Bird Count (CBC), a sister event focused on monitoring birds in schools, colleges, universities, and other campuses. With urban spaces expanding, these campuses are becoming increasingly vital habitats for wildlife.
