Fields of View's First Quarterly Updates 2024

Made to Order Session at NITK

On March 16, 2024, Fields of View conducted a game session of ‘Made to Order’ with the NITK alumni, as a way of getting the men in the network to understand the intersectionality of caste, class and gender and how it plays out in the day to day lives of people. The main topic of discussion was the role of businesses and policies in promoting inclusion. A lot of diverse conversations took place, including someone sharing their seen experience of discrimination against queer individuals.

Hanigalu Session with the Public

On 6th April 2024, Fields of View facilitated an online session of 2 hours of Hanigalu. Around 20 participants from different parts of Bangalore, from people working in CSOs to students and other professions, were part of it. Given the recent water crisis faced by Bangalore, the session intended to make people aware of the water systems and possible ways to move towards sustainability for the city. The participants faced scenarios of drought and increased migration and discussed strategies to mitigate and improve the situation in Panipura, an imaginary city in the game. During the debrief the discussion focused on the social inequity of water access, what it means for a city to have sustainable water use, and the kind of data needed for such planning among others.

City Game session at government school in Goa

Fields of View conducted the City Game session with children 10-14 years old with a total of 30 participants on 17th April 2024, with the government school in Moira, Goa and The Learning Center.

It was an initiative to bring together privileged children at The Learning Center, Goa, and marginalised children, mostly migrant workers, studying at the government school nearby.

Children’s imaginations have no bounds! They built their dream city to have many parks, gardens, football grounds, and open fields, all in the city centre. In the debrief they shared that all of these were in the city centre so they were roughly equidistant for people living anywhere in the city, and they could easily access the public spaces.

How incredible would that dream city be where there is so much public space in the centre of the city, with people living all around it?!
