Updates for Nov- Dec 2024
Udhyam commenced the Entrepreneurship vertical of the Green Rural Economy initiative in November 2024, starting with a dedicated core team. This lays the groundwork for fostering sustainable and scalable rural enterprises. The primary focus has been on building a robust foundation for the platform, streamlining processes, and creating initial knowledge resources, all aimed at enabling scalable solutions for rural livelihoods across India. Over the last quarter, significant strides have been made in laying the groundwork for a platform that will empower communities, promote entrepreneurship, and drive long-term impact.

Building Foundations- Key Activities

  • Team Building- Initial challenges in defining roles were resolved, fostering effective collaboration.
  • Development of Knowledge Resources- Bamboo Handicraft was chosen as the pilot area, with extensive data collection completed for actionable insights.
  • Collaboration with Platform Commons- Work began on an Entrepreneurship module framework, prioritizing services and product offerings.
  • Stakeholder Engagement- Communication channels were set up to onboard early users and engage CSOs and service providers.

Challenges and How We Addressed Them
Defining Information Transfer Model- Aligning goals with diverse stakeholders took more time than anticipated. To overcome this, we simplified workflows, created wireframes for data flow, and conducted pilot testing to validate processes before scaling up.
Balancing Knowledge Databases and Immediate Offerings- We prioritized service and product offerings that addressed immediate stakeholder needs while setting phased timelines for the development of comprehensive knowledge resources. This approach ensures that urgent requirements are met without compromising long-term goals.
Aligning Stakeholder Expectations- The onboarding of diverse stakeholders presented complexities. Personalized onboarding sessions, regular updates, and a robust feedback loop were implemented to foster trust, transparency, and alignment with program objectives.

Early Wins
Some of the key milestones achieved:

  • Scalable Templates Enhancing Framework Development – Robust templates for data validation, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement are now in place, contributing significantly to the framework’s evolution.
  • Bamboo Handicraft Playbook- Nearing completion, this playbook will demonstrate the platform’s potential to deliver actionable insights.
  • Stakeholder Engagement- Inbound interest from CSOs and service providers has validated the relevance and demand for our platform
