Vasu’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of education and opportunity. Having worked in construction after discontinuing his studies from an early age, Vasu’s life took an unexpected turn while working on a college wall. It was there that he first heard about a course in solid waste management, a spark that ignited a newfound passion.
With determination and the desire for knowledge, Vasu enrolled in the course, which also offered a two-month internship at SWMRT. During this internship, Vasu and his 12 fellow classmates delved into various aspects of composting, waste management, and sustainable practices.
Recognizing his immense potential, we proudly selected him as a field staff member. With this opportunity, Vasu embarked on his professional journey with SWMRT.

At SWMRT, we’re on a mission to make a profound impact in the lives of young individuals like Vasu, who come from rural and unemployed backgrounds. Through our carefully curated skill development program, we unlock their potential and develop them into “Swachata Karigars” with skills that shape a sustainable tomorrow. This year we have conducted two internships training 16 students on Solid waste management skills. Now we are raising funds to train 200 rural & unemployed youths in a year. Our program will also help in upskilling existing waste workers and housekeeping staff.
The ripple effect of this is astounding. With these enhanced skills, we can divert a staggering 65% of the total waste generated by large campuses, apartments and institutions away from landfills, benefiting both our environment and our communities.
