Climate Narrative Hub: Amplifying Stories on Local Rural Economies

Hello! Greetings from the Climate Narrative Hub.

Since the last time we interacted, the conversation around ‘Aatmanirbharta’ or self-reliance has increased - whether in media or in our discussions - particularly due the on-going West Asia Conflict.

Across the Rainmatter ecosystem, there are several partners already working with communities to strengthen local economies by promoting local production and consumption, circular economies and community-led enterprises. But we, at CNH, often found ourselves wondering: how can these stories reach more people? And how can they inspire more people within our villages to take these ideas forward?

The Climate Narrative Hub has, over the past three months, been working to amplify stories of communities building local economies rooted in their own ecological contexts. Through creator-led storytelling, we’ve collaborated with 17 creators across Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, UP (and the list is only growing) to bring examples of local resilience to spark action. What we’ve realised - The best way to inspire people is to actually SHOW them that it’s possible through other stories around them already doing it. So far, we’ve created 26 reels in Bundeli, Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil.
