“Are the husbands and the men in the family supportive towards the women expressing confidence, choice and agency?”, is a question we’re almost always asked while we explain the impact our community women are catalysing for themselves.

While the answer to this question is ‘yes’ and ‘no’, today we’ll focus on the ‘yes’. Here are 3 fabulous men who are supporting the women to craft their own lives.

It is stories like Triveni’s that remind us why we began our Self Shakti program 12 years ago - it’s to witness them stand by themselves without fear. Here is Triveni’s story!

Civil society partnerships with government bodies are crucial because they ensure community needs are met while leveraging resources, expertise, and grassroots knowledge, leading to more effective and sustainable development outcomes. Together, we can address complex social issues and drive impactful change. Our government partnerships are especially crucial so that our first level mobilisation is done effectively and efficiently.

Here’s a video from Shri. Gangadaraih, a Child Development Project Officer of the Women and Child Department, from Chikkaballapura Taluk. He talks about why it’s important the two parties collaborate and how Buzz has collaborated with the Women and Child Department.

What the patriarchal system does is put women in boxes of what they can or cannot do! These 3 women - Devamma, Ashwini and Pavithra, are defying that in their own ways. Most importantly, they’re “proud” business owners of ventures they enjoy!

Saraswathy had two goals before joining the Buzz Green program - to ensure that the Anganwadi did not depend on external sources for vegetables and to reduce malnutrition in both children and adults, promoting better health and nutrition within her community. Now we can say she’s achieving these goals! Click the link to read.

Our Buzz Green programme encourages women to start desi poultry farms which refer to indigenous or native breeds of chickens that are traditionally raised in rural areas of India. These breeds are typically well-adapted to local environmental conditions, requiring minimal care and low-cost feeding practices. They are known for their hardiness, resistance to common poultry diseases, and ability to thrive on a free-range or semi-intensive system.

Here are 4 Green Motivators from Kolar who each share with us a tip to maintaining a good and healthy desi poultry farm!

In November, Buzz Netherlands Ambassadors visited India, marking a pivotal moment for Buzz Women. The purpose of their visit went beyond discussions—it was about strengthening connections, exchanging perspectives, and laying the groundwork for growth.
For the Ambassadors, this was a chance to immerse themselves in the heart of Buzz Women’s largest operations. Experiencing the movement firsthand allowed them to better share its story, mobilize their networks, and open doors to funding and partnerships.
For the India team, this was an opportunity to reflect and evolve. We’re at a stage where growth demands thoughtful leadership, and this visit was a moment to involve our managers in shaping Buzz’s future. As Uthara shared during one session: “It’s about slowing down to go faster.”
Together, we explored three key areas—economic resilience, social equity, and climate action—while drawing on the expertise of the Ambassadors to rethink organizational challenges. This week wasn’t just about conversations; it was about co-creating solutions and building leadership that can guide us forward.
Because change always begins with listening, learning, and coming together. :earth_africa::sparkles:
