Building the Bannerghatta Narrative!

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to give a shout out to the Climate Narrative Hub for their amazing support and collaboration. As a partner, we’ve been able to tap into their expertise in shaping climate narratives with the public, which has potential to be a game-changer for our human-wildlife conflict work in Bannerghatta.

Their approach has helped us better articulate the issue and do some much needed public messaging in Bengaluru through creators and engage with new stakeholders. Using a unique collaborative approach, this messaging has been developed through mutual consent in several productive sessions—addressing problematic language, debunking myths, and clarifying common misconceptions, while also defining the urgent need for effective public messaging and awareness-building with some key stakeholders who are the custodians of Bannerghatta’s natural heritage. The stakeholders involved included local NGO’s & CSO’s like Wildlife Conservation Group & Ramkrishna Mission, The Deputy Conservator of Forests - Bannerghatta National Park as well as CSR representatives from different parts of the city. We’re seeing real results from our partnership and are excited to continue working together to drive positive change.

Thanks to the entire Climate Narrative Hub team and Rainmatter Foundation for their trust and support.

We’re stoked to be part of this continued initiative!

Cheers,
Avinash (National Director, A Rocha India)

The actual zoo covers less than 3% — the rest is 260 sq. km of wild forest, home to elephants, leopards, and even wild tigers roaming free, just outside Bengaluru. 📍It’s a vital wildlife corridor linking the Eastern and Western Ghats — a rare and irreplaceable ecological bridge. 🌳It keeps Bengaluru’s climate in balance — our city’s last breathing space. 🦉Declared an Important Bird Area with 222 bird species and rare orchids, it's *not* a trekking trail or picnic spot. :speaking_head: Vox pop about BNP [Banni Bengaluru on Instagram: "Just 22 kilometers from Bengaluru lies a wild biodiverse hotspot - Bannerughatta National Park! Most people think Bannerghatta means the zoo. But here’s the truth; the zoo makes up less than 3% of the entire park. The rest? A vast, wild forest teeming with life - a biodiversity hotspot spread across 260 square kilometers, linking the Eastern and Western Ghats. Bannerghatta National Park is a sensitive hotspot. That means we should protect the habitat by staying out of its way, respecting boundaries. It’s a living, breathing forest. One that demands our respect. So let's protect it by respecting boundaries, keeping our distance from its wild side and supporting conservation efforts.
