Building Partnerships for Landscape Transformation

In November and December 2024, the Common Ground Initiative in collaboration with partners Abhivyakti Foundation, Badlao Foundation, Kalamandir, NIRMAN, Sarva Seva Samity Sanstha (4S), Seba Jagat, Self Employed Workers’ Association Kendra (SEWAK), Society for Upliftment of People with Peoples Organization and Rural Technology (SUPPORT), Tagore Society for Rural Development (TSRD), Women’s Organisation for Sociocultural Awareness (WOSCA) organised a series of workshops across Hazaribagh, Ranchi and Bhubaneshwar focused on fostering collaboration and advancing landscape partnerships across 50 blocks (30 blocks in Jharkhand and 20 blocks in Odisha).

These interactive workshops brought together block-level staff, community leaders, and facilitators to:

Understand systemic challenges like deforestation, unemployment, and resource degradation.

Explore the landscape approach to address socio-ecological issues.

Introduce Multi-Actor Platforms for coordinated action among diverse stakeholders.

Beginning the connections with block-level actors to guide the next six months of initiatives.

Participants engaged in:
Story-driven discussions to identify systemic barriers and solutions.

Hands-on activities such as actor mapping and problem-tree analysis to visualise complex challenges.

Visioning exercises imagining a future for December 2026.

These workshops combined the power of collective action, knowledge exchange, and co-creation in shaping resilient communities.
