The Hon. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu garu, virtually laid the foundation stone for the Bamboo Primary Processing Unit (PPU) in Maredumilli Mandal, Polavaram District. The launch of the PPU is part of the 5-year partnership between Industree Foundation and Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty AP, under the Bamboo Sub-sector programme of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission. The launch also coincided with the 25th anniversary of SERP, celebrating its long-standing work with womenโ€™s self-help groups across Andhra Pradesh.

Over 100,000 smallholder women farmers are expected to plant Bamboo across the state over the next 3 years, restoring degraded land while creating new income opportunities. The PPU will serve as a crucial next step โ€” enabling local communities to move from cultivation to value addition and enterprise creation.

SERP AP, under the dynamic leadership of the CEO and ex Officio Secretary to the Government, V.Karuna IAS, and the District Collector of the erstwhile ASR district, Dinesh Kumar IAS), has actively driven the initiative. This reflects a shared commitment to strengthening tribal livelihoods, climate-resilient agriculture, and women-led rural enterprises connected to national and global markets.
