There have been multiple studies proving the same. Heavy mulching, with almost all organic waste does undoubtedly improve the soil and hence the biodiversity. Like in this case 12,000 tons of orange peel which helped re-forest 7 acres. Given that some amount of fossil fuel needed to replicate this for the next 7 acres. Is the tradeoff worth it?
Given the amount of land that needs restoration across India, even if we had infinite fuel, we would still face a shortage of mulch/organic waste to cover the whole area.
