In 2025, Industree Foundation and the Odisha Livelihoods Mission (OLM) entered into a five-year partnership under the DAY-NRLM Bamboo Subsector program, with an ambition to reach 1,00,000 small and marginal women farmers.
Today, 30,000 smallholder women farmers are planting commercially suitable bamboo species across Odisha. Cumulatively, 35,000 women farmers are now bamboo growers across the state, a milestone for the DAY-NRLM Bamboo Subsector program and the Lakhpati Didi initiative.
This marks an important step from partnership to implementation.
Beyond cultivation, the work spans farmer collectives, sustainable practices, certification, pre-processing infrastructure, industry linkages, and market development, building a stronger, more resilient bamboo value chain. As this work scales, the focus remains clear: build the systems that connect women farmers to greater value across the bamboo economy.
